Elm Lodge is a registered provider for personal mental and social care of older people over 65 years of age. The Managing Director, Mr Z. Karmali who is also the Responsible Individual has 15 years Running and managing care homes, including a care home with nursing, EMI and general.

The Manager of the Home – Dolores Yates, is undertaking NVQ Level 3 and Level 4,
Registered Managers Award and an Assessors course. Mrs Yates has considerable experience in care. The manager is supported by a deputy manager, 8 care staff, 4 Senior Health Care Assistants and 4 Health Care Assistant, one Cook and one Domestic, 2 Maintenance People.

The home is registered for the provision of care to older people with mental health problem. Currently the clients are of mixed gender male and female service users. The home does not provide nursing care. The main effort is concentrated on the personal, mental and social needs of the Service Users.

It is the objective of Elm Lodge to provide care to all service users to a standard of excellence which embraces fundamental principles of good care practice. It is a fundamental ethos that those service users who live in the home should be able to do so in accordance with the homes Statement of Values.

It is the object of the home that all service users shall live in a clean and safe environment and be treated with respect and sensitivity to their individual needs and abilities. Staff will be responsive to the individual needs of service users and will provide the appropriate degree of care to assure high quality of life within the home.

We have open visiting hours and are delighted for our residents to receive visitors at any time and they are always welcome to have tea or coffee. We have extensive menu that caters also for special diets. A fresh fruit basket is provided for our residents in the dining and sitting rooms and sherry is also offered as a ‘warmer’ during winter afternoons and as an aperitif before lunch. These are just a few examples of the ‘little extras’ we provide and we are always available to listen to suggestions of how we may enhance our service even better.

We also provide other services such as hairdressing, daily newspapers, chiropodist, dentist, optician, etc. etc. to ensure all the needs of the residents are met. We can arrange physiotherapy, if required.

  • To meet the client’s needs the care service within the home is designated to achieve the following objectives.
  • To deliver a service of the highest quality that will improve and sustain the service users overall quality of life.
  • To ensure that the care service is delivered flexibly, attentively, and in a non discriminatory fashion while respecting each service users right to independence, privacy, dignity, fulfilment and the rights to make informed choices and to take risks.
  • To ensure that each services users needs and values are respected in matters of religion, culture, race or ethnic origin, sexuality and sexual orientat6ion, political affiliation, marital status, parenthood and disabilities or impairments.
  • To ensure that the care service in whole is delivered in accordance with agreed contracts of care.
  • To staff planning, recruitment, training and personal development to enable service user care needs to be met.
  • To manage the care service efficiently and effectively to make the best use of resources and to maximise value for money to the service user.
